Eyes To See

Contrasts between the color of solid walnut leaves and the eternally deep blue sky are so vivid as to be unreal. In photos of the environment when depth is not apparent the colors are flat. But the fluffy white clouds steadily moving add dimension and there is no doubt that enough water crystals are bunched and cling together as they move with the unseen air. As a kid while supposedly weeding a row of beans I would lay back on the warm black soil and see fantastic shapes take form. With little imagination horse heads or bull horns or other animals would appear to my amusement. Not that it took much to distract me from the work, in spite of the fact that I loved bean soup and baked beans. Beans became money when we needed cash in our childish games. Take a soft rubber ball and they became jacks to capture between bounces. Work or play – I have to do neither as I look into eternity through the bright cobalt sky.
